EAST LANSING, Mich. July 11, 2018 – Medical Advantage announces Professional Medical Corporation Accountable Care Organization (PMC ACO) received exceptional performance in accountable care as measured by the 2017 Merit-based Incentive Payment System MIPS scores. Based in Flint, Michigan, PMC ACO is a Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organization (ACO) with about 40 clinicians. The ACO contracts with Medical Advantage for population health, care management, and administrative services.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) MIPS scores for 2017 show that PMC ACO scored 94%, yielding a +1.71% payment adjustment for 2019. Payment adjustments ranging from -4.00% to +2.02% were possible. This strong performance well positions PMC ACO for continued success in MIPS and MSSP, since bonuses and penalties for MIPS performance will both increase in coming years.
The MIPS scores for the 2017 performance year (January 1 to December 31), consist of three parts: quality, advancing care information, and improvement activities. As previously reported, PMC ACO has also made impressive gains on clinical quality measures for 2017. This strong quality performance is reflected in these high MIPS scores. PMC ACO earned an average two-year quality score of 95 percent as reported by CMS. Quality scores are based on the patient/caregiver experience, care coordination/patient safety, preventive health, and care of at-risk populations. “This means patients served by PMC ACO physicians are getting all the necessary preventive screenings and services to maintain high-quality health,” says Mike Grodus, Director of Healthcare Transformation at Medical Advantage.
